The one of most important art fair in Asia – 2010 Art Taipei had been hold in Taipei World Trade Centre for 5 days from 20th August. 111 galleries from allover the world including Asia (Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, India), Europe (Germany, Spain, Italy) and U.S.A bringing their outstanding artworks participated the fair. This year the organizer set a special area for photography and video art galleries, varied types of art diversified the art fair and presented the flourishing contemporary art from Taiwan to worldwide. At the opening party we saw Vice-President Mr Hsiao Wan-Chan had been invited as the special guest for the launched ceremony. This is the third time Kalos Gallery exhibited in Art Taipei. We represented the newest artworks of our artists: Ju Ming, Ju Jun and Chang Chia-Ting. Ju Ming’s new working series – “Living World Series – Swimming” was welcome and received many appraises from public and collectors. Ju Ming froze swimming suit girls’ actions into posed sculptures and made a contrast of different materials’ texture. The glossy stainless recreated the shinning waterside scenery on the sculpture’s skin. This visual effect surprised every visitor and attracted many people posed next to the artworks to be photographed. The works by the relatively fresh talent Chang Chia-Ting received many inquiries too. Her newest work ‘Red Cabinet’ preserves her fluency in color using. Antique cabinet, orchid in vase and birds constructed a silent and poetic atmosphere on the canvas, cleared the annoyance of hot summer and led the audience into an imagination of artistic conception. Ju Jun is good at extending the space of sculpture and containing the background into his works. His newest work ‘auspiciousness’ had an imagination of pull out characters from the plinth and extract them from the bronze, and turned 2 dimensions characters into a 3 dimensions objects. His artworks attained many inquiries from foreigner visitors. The five-day show was a great success; people demonstrated great fondness and enthusiasm toward the artworks. The quality of the fair saw a greater improvement, and we hope for an even more international art gathering next year.
