Chu Wei-Bor + Mia Wen Hsuan Liu:
「Polyphony beat」
Date::2012 2/11 - 2012 3/3
Reception: 2012.2.11 PM 3:00
Chu Wei-Bor, as a master in the artistic circle of Taiwan, uses a knife, instead of brushes, to sculpt, collage onto the cloth and papers. Such positive and negative (full and empty) spaces fluctuate within his artworks. It can be interpreted that either moderate or lively melodies of a solo violin seem to convey the ambience created by master Chu’s paper creations. As for Mia Wen Hsuan Liu, an early-career artist, she constructs her three-dimensional paper images through complicatedly detailed procedures and manual ways of coloring. The lines as well as the flowing light and shade generated by such a conception are like “tipsy” jazz and rondo, unremittingly whirling and rotating.
Kalos Gallery is pleased to announce the first exhibition of 2012, Polyphony.Rhythm – A Group Exhibition: Chu Wei-Bor and Mia Wen Hsuan Liu. The age difference of these two artists is nearly fifty years. Their productions are classified into the two different generations. With the musical characteristics imbued with their works of art, this group exhibition wishes to explore viewers’ aesthetic imagination as well as to open up their eyes and mind. In the imaginative sense, the fascinating melody stimulated by conflicts between space and such elements as point, plane and color is also essential to be heard and felt while viewers seeing this show.
After the celebration of Chinese New Year, Kalos Gallery sincerely invites you to appreciate the metaphorically musical chapters created by master Chu and Mia from the 11th of February to the 3rd of March in 2012.
